It’s always exciting to see a new collab with a couple of the biggest names in dubstep, especially when it exceeds your already high expectations of both artists. Well, today Circus Records frontmen Flux Pavilion and Doctor P released their killer remix of Dillon Francis‘ “Without You”, featuring Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and it is exactly what you would expect from the … Continue reading

I must admit, classic Flux Pavilion tends to be more my style than recent Flux Pavilion. But the Circus Records co-owner is an integral part of the scene regardless and I would be amiss to completely disregard his newest release. The Freeway EP might not be his finest work to date, but that doesn’t mean … Continue reading

Everyone celebrates Valentine’s Day differently. Some people are going on dates, others are staying at home wishing they had dates, and others are taking advantage of the holiday by looking at the sick new free music getting dropped for the special occasion. Dillon Francis decided to use the holiday as the day to drop his VIP … Continue reading

Nervo Debut Video For Youre Gonna Love Again

Last October, Cyndi Lauper celebrated 30 years since bursting on to the scene with her debut studio album, the irrepressible pop-crammed classic She’s So Unusual, by hitting the road and performing it in front of her loyal following of fans across the world. (I posted some bits about five of my own personal favourites from the LP at the time, which you can read/listen to here).

Then earlier this week, the The Goonies ‘R Good Enough (!) singer unveiled plans to reissue the record as a deluxe two disc package on 1 April via Sony’s Legacy Recordings division, and you can preorder it here ahead of the collection’s official release on 31 March.

Disc one will feature the album’s original track list as well as a Yolanda Be Cool remix of the smash hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and two of heartbreak ballad Time After Time, one by Bent Collective and one by Australian sisters/singer-songwriters/production powerhouse Nervo. You need wait no longer to own the latter as it is already on iTunes now.

Should you be after more than just three new suped-up, dancefloor-ready numbers, there will also be that special edition second disc which includes live performances, original remixes and previously unreleased demos. Thrown in for good measure is Right Train, Wrong Track which served as the B-side to Cyndi’s smash hit Girls Just Wanna… back in 1983.

Check out the full track list for the 30th anniversary reissue, below:

Nervo have premiered the official music video for their new single online.

Not Taking This No More will be released to digital retailers on 23 September and

Knight was last in the UK singles charts in December as part of The Justice Collective who claimed the coveted Christmas number one slot with their cover of The Hollies’ He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother. Her most recent studio album – and seventh in total – was a carefully selected collection of cover versions called Soul UK which reached #13 on the UK Top 40 album chart in July 2011.

So the club-ready EDM track packed with Balearic rave beats is quite the radical departure for the singer, who has rarely strayed far from the soul foundations that she’s been building her career on, ever since breaking through in the mid-1990s.

On that note, let’s enjoy a classic throwback to Knight’s early days with her 1998 Top 40 hit Made It Back.

British soul singer Beverley Knight has teamed up with Australian producer Ivan Gough to appear on the latest single from sibling duo from Down Under, Nervo.

The Shoulda Woulda Coulda singer tweeted that she was on set in Ibiza shooting the music video for Not Taking This No More, whilst Miriam and Olivia confirmed the news in a tweet posted on their official Twitter timeline earlier today.

The 40 year old from Wolverhampton was last in the UK singles charts in December as part of The Justice Collective who claimed the ‘coveted’ Christmas number one slot with their cover of The Hollies’ He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother. Her most recent studio album – and seventh in total – was a carefully selected collection of cover versions called Soul UK which reached #13 on the UK Top 40 album chart in July 2011.

So the club-ready dance track is quite an unexpected departure for the singer, who has rarely strayed far from the soul foundations that she’s been building her career on, ever since breaking through in the mid-1990s. It’s all very rowdy with lots of heavy Balearic rave beats and beeps and Beverley of course hitting those big notes.

Check it out below and let me me know what you think.

Australian duo Nervo have debuted their new single ‘Hold On’ during a chat with US chart magazine Billboard.

The singing and songwriting twins – Mim and Liv – are long overdue a smash hit of their own, having contributed their talents to some of brilliant tracks over the past decade including David Guetta and K-Ro’s Grammy Award-winning ‘When Love Takes Over’, and singles from Pussycat Dolls, Kylie Minogue and Rachel Stevens.

That said, I doubt this is the song to give them the cut through that they need. However, as the sisters continue to ride the DJ club circuit, they’ll be building up a fan base who will want to see an album at some point soon. Afterall, it has been a couple of years since Nervo started putting some really good quality singles of their own out there (‘We’re All No-One’, ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’).

During their catch up with Billboard, Mim Nervo confirmed plans for the the release of an album later this year. Requirements are quite simply for “every song to be a four-on-the-floor, 128 [BPM] banger with an electro drop” according to Liv. Which bodes very well indeed.

‘Hold On’ was produced by Dutch DJ and producer R3hab, who has previously worked with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, J Lo and Rihanna.

NERVO TEAM UP WITH NICKY ROMERO FOR NEW DANCE TRACK ‘LIKE HOME’

They both collaborated on David Guetta’s recent reissue ‘Nothing But The Beat V2.0’, and now Dutch DJ Nicky Romero and Aussie sibling duo Nervo have teamed up to release their own track, another club floor filler called ‘Like Home’.

Regular readers will know I’m a fan of the Antipodean sisters, having previously written about their stunning singles ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’ and ‘We’re All No One’. Alas, their UK success to date has only been via their contributions to some of the greatest pop records of the last decade.

Which ones? Well they were involved in the production and songwriting for Kelly Rowland’s ‘When Love Takes Over’ and Rachel Stevens’ ‘Negotiate With Love’. They have also written for Kesha, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Pussycat Dolls, and Britney Spears, opening for the latter during her Femme Fatale tour.

In addition they co-penned a couple of tracks on Swedish pop star Agnes’ most recent album ‘Veritas’ which I insist is one of the best albums of the year.

Nicky Romero hasn’t done too badly either, having remixed Kylie’s ‘All The Lovers’, Taio Cruz’s ‘Dynamite’, Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’ and Madonna’s ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” amongst others.

Quite some pedigree.

Anyway, this new track isn’t the greatest offering either have put their name to, but it’s certainly worth a listen.

ANOTHER SONG CO-WRITTEN BY NERVO FOR AGNES’ NEW ALBUM ‘VERITAS’ – LISTEN TO ‘GOT ME GOOD’

Swedish singer Agnes has just released her new album ‘Veritas’ in her Swedish homeland.

It includes the BRILLIANT singles ‘One Last Time’ and ‘All I Want Is You’. If you haven’t listened to either of them, correct yourself NOW. The former makes my heart crumble a little more, each time I listen to it. It also includes a song called ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ which Agnes released as a promo single last year and was co-scribed by Aussie duo Nervo.

Mim and Liv Nervo are probably the best Australian female twins since Gayle & Gillian and have released some blinding dance music before. They appear on a new David Guetta track called ‘In My Head’ that features on the forthcoming ‘Nothing But The Beat’ reboot. They’ve also had songs of their own like ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’ and ‘We’re All No One’.

Most importantly though, they co-wrote Kylie’s ‘Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)’, Rachel Stevens’ ‘Negotiate With Love’ and Kelly Rowland’s ‘When Love Takes Over’. Those all score highly on the pop front. They have also opened for Britney during her ‘Femme Fatale’ tour and worked with Ke$ha, Chezza and Scherzinger.

PUT THE TWO ACTS TOGETHER AND WHAT HAVE YOU GOT?

It’s not a pile of crap, is what I’m trying to say.

And it still hasn’t had a UK release date announced. If you’re in Sweden, feel free to send me a copy.

ANOTHER NEW DAVID GUETTA TRACK FROM ‘NOTHING BUT THE BEAT V2.0’ CALLED ‘IN MY HEAD’ FEAT. NERVO

Back to back David Guetta posts on the blog isn’t something I’m necessarily proud of, but it has to be said that these new tracks surfacing online are a vast improvement on many of those that featured on the French producer’s original ‘Nothing But The Beat’ album.

Guetta is getting ready to release a deluxe version of that record, suffixed ‘V2.0’ and yesterday I posted a link to his new collaboration with Canadian duo Tegan & Sara called ‘Every Chance We Get We Run’.

Today’s offering is the result of him teaming up with another pair of sisters, Australia’s Nervo. They’ve already made their mark on the music industry, having earned their stripes co-writing stellar tunes including K-Ro’s ‘When Love Takes Over’ and Rachel Steven’s popastic ‘Negotiate With Love’. Unfortunately their own lead credited tracks have failed to match the success of the work they’ve done for others.

‘In My Head’, like ‘Every Chance We Get We Run’, is another great showcase for the featured artist: uplifting dance with Guetta’s usually overbearing production scaled back to give Nervo’s vocals full exposure.

‘Nothing But The Beat V2.0’ is released in the UK on 10 September and available to preorder now.

Nervo: You’re Gonna Love Again (Official Music Video)

Following on from my earlier post about the return of The Veronicas, here are another pair of Aussie siblings releasing music in the shape of Nervo and their official music video for new single ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’.

I first wrote about this duo at the start of the year, when Scott Mills playlisted their addictive electropop jam ‘We’re All No One’ but the truth is they’ve been making waves for a long time now.

At the time, I explicitly requested that they grab some public attention, and actually referenced this particular Avicii-produced song.

Because ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’ is more Robyn’s ‘With Every Heartbeat’ than David Guetta’s ‘Nothing But The Beat’: a euphoric and uplifting club anthem that grabs dance and pop by the horns, straddles the genres and then rides them HARD.

Other reasons why Nervo are AMAZING:

STAND UP. TAKE NOTICE. MAKE THEM HUGE.
